Internship Project Brief:

The pandemic brought about a huge behavioral change in the way people communicate and learn. The education sector is witnessing the shift from offline learning to online learning as students and faculty members worldwide are adapting to virtual learning platforms.

Imagine you are working as a UI Designer on such a virtual learning platform (video conferencing tool). This platform works on a personal computer, laptop, or mobile phone with or without video. It allows students and faculty to learn, collaborate and connect.

One day, project research lands on your desk. The company wants to enhance the usability of this learning platform to increase student engagement. With the project research in hand, your job is to decide on its look and feel, easy user navigation and information exchange, and come up with a pleasant and usable design.

Research Objective:

  • Understand how and why students are currently using this platform. (Motivation)
  • What are the challenges they face while using this platform (Pain points)

Design Plan:

  1. Planning the strategy - With the research we have in hand, we will strategies its flow.
  2. Preparing the tools - Platform guidelines, User interface basics
  3. Complete guide to Figma - How to use Figma on web & desktop, Understanding components and variants, Learning responsive design, Creating stylesheet for Hand-Off, Prototyping
  4. iOS - Understanding HIC, interface, iOS guidelines, and other UI rules
  5. Color theory and Typography - Understanding the usage of colors on UI, Finding inspirations for iOS screens
  6. Prototyping and - Interactions and micro-interactions
  7. Android review - Introduction to material design, Understanding various sections of a screen
  8. Web review - Responsive and adaptive, web guidelines
  9. Resources - Resources for UI elements
  10. Presentation - Showcasing Design.

What tools will you use?

  • Figma: To practice and design the final screens

At the end of this internship, you will be able to:

  • Look critically at how UI can support UX findings and implement them
  • Apply methods for evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting the design.
  • Make an industry-standard presentation.
  • Work with a design tool.
